A man was struck and killed by a train when witnesses say he was laying on the tracks Sunday morning.
Tempe police say a Union Pacific train was heading southbound near 10th Street and Broadway when it hit a man who was on the tracks.
The man died at the scene.
According to a witness, the man was laying on the tracks and seemed to be relaxing.
Police say a conductor and the man both called 911 when they saw the man on the tracks.
