CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A 25-year-old man has been cited for driving the wrong way on the Chicago Skyway after a head-on crash with a pickup truck Thursday morning that sent four people to hospitals.

The crash happened about 5:04 a.m. on the Skyway near 85th Street, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

A Honda driven by the 25-year-old man was heading north in the southbound lanes of the Skyway, when it collided head-on with a pickup truck that was traveling southbound in the proper lanes, Mirabelli said. The pickup veered and hit the concrete median, then rolled over. The 56-year-old driver, who was the sole occupant of that vehicle, was taken to South Shore Hospital where he has since been treated and released, for leg and ankle injuries.

Riding in the Honda were a 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, Mirabelli said. The man had neck pain and was treated and released from South Shore Hospital, Mirabelli said. The woman was treated and released for leg injuries from Trinity Hospital.

The driver of the Honda was in stable condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with a broken arm, Mirabelli said. He has been cited for driving the wrong way. The driver, whose ID was not immediately available, may also be cited with other traffic violations, Mirabelli said.
