City Council to hear Emanuel`s parking meter proposal

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Some aldermen have questions as a City Council committee gets ready to hold a hearing on Mayor Emanuel's proposed changes to the Chicago parking meter deal.

The mayor's proposed changes to the city's public parking meters will get their first public hearing on Friday.

If approved next month by City Council, the deal would see the city pay nearly $64 million to settle disputes with Chicago Parking Meters LLC.

The settlement would also create free parking in most neighborhoods on Sunday's, but establish longer meter hours during the week.
