ROMULUS, Mich. (WJBK) -

A man accused of killing his wife and two children in Novi in 2008 has been extradited from India to Metro Detroit to face murder charges. His arrest could end a five-year-old murder mystery.

Fox 2's Ron Savage confronted the suspect at Metro Airport where he was taken into custody by the FBI and Novi Police. Click on the video player to watch Ron's report.

Lakshminivasa Nerusu, 46, is suspected of killing his wife, Jayalakshmi Nerusu, 14-year-old daughter, Tejasvi Nerusu, and 12-year old son, Siva Nerusu, on Oct. 13, 2008.

Police believe he fled the country the following day. The family was discovered dead two weeks later inside their townhouse on the 29000 block of Wharton.

Investigators say the victims were bludgeoned and suffered self defense cuts on their hands and arms. The gruesome murder scene sickened even veteran investigators. Police recovered sharp edged weapons from the scene they believe were used in the murders.

Nerusu, a former computer programmer, has been on the run for nearly five years. Investigators from Novi, the FBI, Michigan State Police and the US State Department worked with Indian authorities in New Delhi culminating in the capture of one of Michigan's Most Wanted. He'll stand trial for three counts of murder one.
