How to be a "Super Intern"

Posted: Updated:
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (myFOXDetroit.com) -

Alexandra Mauro is a recent graduate from Central Michigan, and was recently featured as a "Super Intern" in Seventeen Magazine.

Alex shares some tips and advice for how to make the most of an internship, and how to make yourself stand out to prospective employers.

1.    Be persistent in pursuing internship opportunities and on the job. Never say, "I hope to talk to you" in follow-up letters, say "I look forward to talking to you." On the job, don't wait for assignments. This is your opportunity to get experience in your field. Get involved.

2.    Be willing. Be humble. As an intern, you must remember no job is beneath you.Be ready and willing to step up to do anything. You never know where it will lead.

3.    Be confident. You can do more than you think. Don't ever say, "I don¹t know how." Say yes to the opportunity, be resourceful and ask questions. You are capable of far more than you think.
