Morrow police chase suspects in car break-ins

MORROW, Ga. -

The search for a two car burglary suspects turned into a police chase near the Southlake Mall in Morrow on Thursday.

Authorities responded to a report of car break-ins at the Southlake Mall. Police chased a gray Pontiac, which crashed into a red truck.

Jonathan Findley, who works at a nearby KFC, saw two men sprint away from the vehicle.

"They got out of the car and they just jetted you would think they were in the Olympics or something," said Findley.

Authorities arrested one suspect after using a Taser on him. Another suspect got away, prompting a search.

Morrow police fanned out on foot and with canines at the intersection of Highway 54 and Mount Zion. They called off the search after about an hour.

They say two car break-ins at the mall on Thursday appear to be part of a rash of break-ins in the last few days.

"We did recover a lot of property inside our suspect's cars that was stolen out of numerous cars at Southlake Mall," said Captain James Callaway of the Morrow Police Department.

Morrow police say they're building a strong case load of evidence, which includes eyewitnesses and surveillance video from the mall.

"Mall security surveillance did capture these suspects on video. That will be looked at, too, with the investigation," Callaway said.

Police say they expect to capture the other suspect soon since they have a car as evidence and are questioning the first suspect, who has been identified as 26-year-old Timothy Jamar Bryant.

Bryant is facing numerous charges including breaking and entering, hit-and-run and using tools involved in a burglary.
