Highland Park High School student charged with hot sauce assault

Posted: Updated:

A student at Highland Park High School is in legal trouble after he allegedly poured "Da Bomb" hot sauce into some pasta sauce as a prank.

"Da Bomb" products have a Scoville (heat) rating over 100,000 units, or more than 20 times hotter than a jalapeno.

Three cafeteria workers were hospitalized with wheezing and skin rashes. No one actually ate the sauce.

The 17-year-old will likely be charged with misdemeanor battery, Highland Park Police said.
