Mich. officials searching for 2013 state Christmas tree

LANSING, Mich. (WJBK) -

The search is underway for the 2013 state Christmas tree.

The state's Department of Technology, Management and Budget is now accepting nominations for the official holiday evergreen that will sit on the Capitol lawn during the 2013 holiday season.

To be considered, trees must be spruce or fir, stand at least 65 feet tall with a maximum crown of 30 feet and be easily accessible from the road.

Applications will be accepted until July 31.

Individuals wishing to nominate a tree are asked to send their name, telephone number, a photograph of the tree and information about its size and location to ChristmasTree@-michigan.gov or by mail to:
