GLOBE, Ariz. -

A 78-mile stretch of State Route 77 was closed due to a 30-acre brush fire about five miles north of Winkelman.

A brush fire caused a 78-mile section of SR 77 to close from Oracle Junction to Globe, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The highway was closed from milepost 92, where SR 77 meets SR 79 in Oracle Junction, to milepost 170, about two miles east of Globe, where SR 77 meets US 70.

According to the Arizona State Forestry Division, crews are fighting the 30-acre fire with a helicopter, two single-engine air tankers, four engines and two water tenders.

The fire was reportedly 20 percent contained on Sunday morning.
