Updated:
PHOENIX -

A woman rear-ended a fire truck on its way to a burning building near Bethany Home Road and 40th Avenue on Saturday night.

Phoenix Fire crews were on their way to a building on fire when a woman braked too hard, causing her car to swerve into the fire truck.

Firefighters say two children, ages 6 and 8, were in the unbuckled in the backseat and were taken to a hospital in stable condition. They were reportedly complaining about face and back injuries.

The driver and the firefighters involved in the crash weren't injured.

Bethany Home is closed westbound at 40th Avenue and eastbound is restricted to one lane.

The fire truck will be out of service while its damages are assessed.
