Arizonans brave heat for outdoor activities

Updated:
PHOENIX -

Despite the high temperatures, many people were out to enjoy their weekend on Saturday.

"Brutal. It's very, very hot," said Gabrielle Moreno.

Moreno and her family braved the heat to have a picnic and go fishing at Encanto Park.

She laughed through the scorching temperatures, others looked for a silver lining.

"No, not a lot of people at all. They opted out, we're the strong," said Lonnie Pollard.

Pollard and his friends enjoyed a quick round of golf because there weren't many willing to endure the hot weather at the Encanto course.

"Once you're in the grass, it's a lot cooler than it is in the pavement," said Terri Porter.

Some people cooled off at Mighty Mud Mania in Scottsdale on Saturday.

Those stuck in downtown turned to refreshments.

"I just downed a Frosty, I had a couple glasses of water, other than that I'm looking for the pool, where's the pool at?" said Aaron Teixera.

That's what most of us will be asking all summer long.
