CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Buffalo Grove native Dave Roskelley has gone where very few people ever will: the top of Mount Everest.

Roskelley told the Daily Herald he spent the better part of a decade training to climb the tallest peak on Earth.

The 44-year-old says the final assurance that he should do it came from, of all things, from a Panda Express fortune cookie. Roskelley said he opened the cookie and it said "soon you will be sitting on top of the world."

His fortune was right. Roskelley reached a goal he'd had since he began mountain climbing as a teenager.

Fewer than 4,000 people have climbed to the top of Everest, which is 29,029 feet above sea level.
