BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

A car fleeing police at high speeds hit another vehicle at Woodward and Square Lake Road in Bloomfield Township. A mother, father and son suffered only minor injuries.

The chase began in Pontiac and raced down Woodward Avenue.

"Officers with our undercover unit observed a drug transaction. They tried to stop the vehicle, and at that time he fled," said Sergeant Todd Hunt with the Oakland County Sheriff's Department.

What happened after the accident was right out of the Dukes of Hazard escape manual.

"At one point he left the roadway, went off an embankment, down to the railroad tracks," Hunt said.

We were told the suspect then raced down the shoulder of a railroad track until the tires of his Honda dug into the gravel bed. Police alerted the railroad, and an oncoming train was able to power down.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned on Friday.

"We're looking at fleeing and eluding right now, but the rest of it's still an investigation," Hunt said.
