Another hotel and casino is opening up in the valley. The new and improved Vee Quiva Casino south of Baseline off 51st Avenue is just weeks away from opening and today we got a first look at what to expect when the doors open to the public.
Slot machines, roulette, card game tables. Expanded dining options including a Ditka's Restaurant, named after former NFL coach Mike Ditka.
That's just the casino level of the new expanded Vee Quiva Casino. Then there's the new 3 story hotel room attached to the casino.
“The most magnanimous energetic casino practically in the United States!”
Wow! John James, CEO of Gila River Gaming Enterprises, was not at a loss for words when describing the new digs today.
“The place is timeless. This is the legend in the making, this is what a true local casino should look and feel like. This has the comfort and feeling of home but the electric feeling of a place where you want to be. This is a sense of belonging, this is a great place to be.”
The Gila River Indian Reservation spent $135 million on the project, and when the doors open in early July, the 70,000 square foot will replace the old Vee Quiva Casino.
“We’ve generated over 600 construction jobs and 300 new team members alone that we’ve hired just for this facility alone,” says James.
And they think they have a casino to rival sin city.
“We believe we have a better resort operation than Las Vegas when you look at the structure, the way it’s laid out. I think it’s really going to knock the socks off the valley.”
A grand opening is scheduled for July 2nd.
