OC Authorities Seek Stolen Artificial Leg

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities are asking for public help in finding an artificial leg that was stolen from a man at an Orange County amusement park.

The Orange County Register says the custom prosthetic, valued at up to $60,000, was in a truck that was stolen from the Knott's Berry Farm parking lot in Buena Park on Memorial Day weekend.

The leg belongs to 53-year-old Juan Hernandez of Santa Ana. He says the computer-controlled knee allowed him to walk and use the gym. For now, he's using a wheelchair and crutches.

Hernandez lost his left leg above the knee when a suspected graffiti vandal ran him down in 2010.

Jose Berruette is believed to be in Mexico. Santa Ana police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
