Bashas' supermarket in Flagstaff goes up in flames

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -
A Bashas supermarket and a connected strip mall went up in flames Monday night. The store was open at the time, and filled with customers.
This was at the northern Bashas in the Flagstaff Plaza shopping center on North Humphreys Street and Fort Valley Road, near the Flagstaff Medical Center.
The manager went on the store intercom and ordered everyone out because of the fire. No one was hurt.
The fire was so substantial, the roof partially caved in. Crews were able to extinguish the flames, but not before some serious damage was sustained.
Flagstaff Fire Battalion Chief Pat Staskey says the cause of the fire may be electrical.
"Some people did a really good job alerting people and getting them out of the store real quickly," said Staskey. "The fire as you can see, the fire began to move left and right of the strip mall and that was certainly a concern."
It appears the fire spread to some of the nearby businesses. An official cause has not yet been determined.
