Full containment of wildfire NW of Prescott nears

Updated:

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - A wildfire that's been burning near Prescott now is 90% contained with full containment expected soon.

Officials said Thursday that the 10.5-square-mile Doce Fire in the Prescott National Forest has cost nearly $6.5 million to fight.

It began June 18 and forced hundreds of residential evacuations, which have since been lifted.

The blaze has charred dense brush and timber in the Granite Mountain Wilderness about seven miles northwest of Prescott.

Investigators say the Doce Fire was human-caused, but haven't determined the exact source yet.

Granite Basin Road remains closed to the public and can only be accessed by residents with valid identification.
