FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -

Hail and rain came down in Flagstaff Tuesday afternoon -- and in parts of Maricopa and Pinal Counties, a dust storm warning was briefly in effect.

It was canceled just before 10 p.m. Tuesday. An excessive heat warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday.

There is also a possibility of thunderstorms in the valley as that system rolls through.

People are advised not to drive in a dust storm. If you are on the road, slow down and pull off to the side, all the way off the pavement. Turn off your lights so other cars don't try to follow you.  That's what causes pileups.

Up north on Tuesday, the Flagstaff Airport got a record amount of rainfall - 1.74 inches. The previous record was 1.5 inches.

To give you an idea of how much rain fell, employees at the Flagstaff Dairy Queen struggled to keep the floodwaters out of the restaurant!
