Doylestown Stabbing

Posted: Updated:
DOYLESTOWN, Pa. -

Doylestown Borough police were called to S. Clinton St. around 2:45 a.m. this morning for report of a man laying on the road. They thought that he may of been hit by a car but when they got there, they found him laying right there with stab wounds.

"I looked through the window when I saw the commotion with the police and I didn't know what it was," said Jeanne Davis.

Jeanne Davis saw the police lights flashing through her window this morning. She and others in Doylestown were shocked to learn that a man was stabbed right in front of the Doylestown SEPTA station around 2:45 a.m.

"What a shame," says Jill Vott, another witness."It's a little shocking because it's not a common thing to happen in Doylestown to have someone stabbed."

Police found the man who they say is between 60 and 70 years old bleeding in the middle of Clinton street, a trail of bloody foot prints going away from the scene.

"That's the trail from the individual we believe may have committed the crime that trail shows us that he was running in that direction. There were some footprints there," says Lieutenant Penecal.

There were no surveillance cameras around, and the only witness police are aware of is the person who called in the report. Police were not able to interview the victim because of his condition. He was flown to Temple University hospital for surgery were he was last listed in critical condition.

Police have not yet named the man but they say he did have identification on him and he is not from the state of Pennsylvania.
