PONTIAC, Mich. (WJBK) -

Home video obtained exclusively by Fox 2 shows a chaotic scene outside Perry's Palace liquor store in Pontiac around 11 p.m. on July 4. Frightened people were running and a man was down on the street after a shooter started firing at the crowd, which included families and children.

A 33-year-old man died on the corner of Chamberlain and North Perry. He was shot while holding hands with his children, a six-year-old boy and a twelve-year-old girl. The boy was also shot in the head, but is expected to recover. His sister suffered a less serious injury.

"It's traumatic for the family. It's a great loss for the community, too. This man was just trying to have a good time with his family and celebrate Fourth of July," said Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe.

The sheriff's department told us the 35-year-old suspect has an extensive criminal history, including domestic violence and weapons charges. They have recovered several shell casings, but they are still looking for the gun.

Also injured were two 22-year-old women shot in the legs, a 28-year-old man shot in the hip and forearm and a 23-year-old man who was shot in the leg. Most have been released from the hospital.

Investigators are taking a close look at surveillance video from the party store. We're told it shows a fight and someone spraying pepper spray before the suspect pulled out a nine millimeter handgun.

"It would appear from the video that as this argument broke out and the pepper spray came about, it looks like maybe he was hit with the pepper spray or it affected him and that's when he pulled the gun out and started shooting," McCabe said.

Initially the suspect ran, but with the help of witnesses, he was located by deputies around 4 a.m. He is expected to be arraigned over the weekend.
