Gun Violence Call To Action In West Philadelphia

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

People in West Philadelphia say that they're fed up with the rising gun violence on their streets.

Neighbors and community leaders met this afternoon at Thompson and Saint Bernard Streets.

This is the exact spot where 21-year-old John Carrington was shot and killed Thursday night. His mother was there, sharing his story.

Members from the group, Heeding God's Call, say events like these help the community heal.

"I think it's a powerful statement to the community," says one activist. "I believe that people are touched by it, and we helped a lot of families realize that they're not alone."

Heeding God's Call is a faith-based organization, hoping to root-out gun violence in Philadelphia and other cities.
