Weidman Shoots Up FOX 11’s UFC PXP Rankings

Posted: Updated:

When the UFC asked FOX 11 to vote as part of their first official rankings, I gladly obliged, knowing full well that no matter how you vote, there would be no shortage of critics.

But when I put the then unknown Chris Weidman in my top 10 rankings, I knew those critics would have plenty of ammunition to lob my way.

Not because I ranked Weidman as a top 10 middleweight, but because I ranked him a top 10 pound-for-pound fighter.

Even after just nine fights, I saw enough to tell me Weidman was a beast.

A guy that would likely dethrone the most dominant mixed martial artist of all time in Anderson Silva.

And if he could do that, why the hell would I NOT have the Hofstra product in my top 10 pound-for-pound list?

So after knocking out Silva in just a round and a half, I feel awfully justified and comfortable moving the new middleweight champ up three spots to number 6 on the pound-for-pound list.

I'll also put it to you this way… not only can I easily see Weidman beating just about everyone at 185, even at light heavyweight Weidman would be a load for anyone not nicknamed "Bones."

As for the rest of the best, I had Jon Jones ahead of Silva to begin win so despite the loss, "The Spider" still stays in the top two.

Jose Aldo, Georges St. Pierre and Cain Velasquez round out my top five with Weidman following close behind.

Our full vote on all the weight classes can be found on the UFC website sometime Monday afternoon.

Clippers owner Donald Sterling repeatedly consented to his wife selling the Clippers while facing the prospect of being stripped of the team by the NBA, then suddenly changed his mind and disregarded the terms of the family trust, Shelly Sterling's attorney told a judge today.
Shelly Sterling acted properly in removing her husband as a director of the family trust that owns the Los Angeles Clippers, and she has the authority to sell the team despite Donald Sterling's objections, a judge tentatively ruled on Monday.
