Preps underway for Tuesday's firefighter memorial service

Posted: Updated:

A memorial service for the fallen firefighters will be held Tuesday morning in Prescott Valley. Family members, colleagues and community members will pay their respects to the 19 men who died.

Vice president Joe Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will be among those who will attend, along with Arizona Governor Jan Brewer.

Volunteers and firefighters from all across the nation have been helping set up.

The service at the Tom's Toyota Center will not be open to the public. The families of the victims will sit closest to the stage. The surviving member of the hotshot team will also be there.

Some 30,000 people are expected to watch the service from outside Toyota Center on huge screens. There are cooling stations set up outside.

Sitting at the front of the stage is a touching tribute to the men -- 19 pairs of boots, pick axes, shovels, and sets of firefighting gear.
