KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - Mohave County authorities say they're concerned about the possibility of damaging runoff from the Dean Peak Fire in mountains outside Kingman.

The fire still smoldering in the Hualapai Mountains is 90% contained, and the Sheriff's Office says concern now largely focuses on potential flash flooding that is common when a wildfire burns off vegetation.

Sheriff's Sgt. Don Bischoff says agencies are preparing a response plan for flash flooding.

Thunderstorm in the area is forecast to increase this week.

Hundreds of homes were evacuated but residents have been allowed to return to the affected neighborhoods.
