2-hour rescue for kitten stuck inside car's dashboard

Posted: Updated:
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (myFOXDetroit.com) -

John Norwood was stopped at a red light when he spotted the tiny gray-striped kitten. So he decided to grab the kitten and get it to a shelter. But during the car ride over, the kitten crawled up under the dash - and was nowhere to be found.

Norwood called his Chrysler dealership in Roseville. They agreed to help, but little did they know how much work they were getting into.

For the next two hours, a team of anywhere from three to seven mechanics worked to find the frightened kitty. The dashboard had to be dismantled; even a can of cat food was set out to try and lure the kitten out.

But before the cat was even found, a person inside the dealership offered to take him home. Joe Downey and his family recently put down their family's elderly dog and two cats, and have been looking for a new addition to their home.

Check out the video to see the kitten's rescue.
