Suspect changes clothes during chase through Mesa neighborhood

Updated:
MESA, Ariz. -

A suspect was arrested after leading deputies on a chase through a neighborhood near Crismon and University early Friday morning.

A Maricopa County Sheriff's deputy attempted to pull a driver over around 3 a.m. because the vehicle had an expired license plate.

MCSO deputy Robert Latarza says the suspect bailed out of the vehicle and started running through a neighborhood and into homes' backyards.

During the chase, deputies lost sight of the suspect, but say they then saw him riding a bike, dressed in different clothing.

The suspect was caught and arrested shortly afterward.

Deputies haven't released the suspect's name.
