Armed robberies increase at Greater Grand Crossing businesses: Alert

Police are warning small businesses in the South Side Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood of an increase in armed robberies in the past week.

In these incidents, the robbers enter businesses with their faces concealed, display a silver handgun and demand money and/or property, an alert from Area Central detectives said.

In the past week, armed robberies have taken place at a business in the 100 block of East 69th Street at about 11:10 a.m. on July 10; and in the 200 block of East 69th on about 12:30 p.m. on July 15.

The robbers were described as two or three black men, between 18 and 29, and 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11.
