PHILADELPHIA -

Drexel President John Fry hosted a breakfast today to welcome the more than 60 high school students taking part in WorkReady Philadelphia on the Drexel University's campus.

The students will work 20 hours a week in paid internships in a variety of academic and administrative units across Drexel University.

Drexel has participated in the WorkReady program since 2005. It hired 44 more interns this year to respond to Mayor Michael Nutter's "10,000 Summer Jobs Challenge."

Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell and WorkReady program manger Tim Devine were also in attendance.

WorkReady is a program run by the Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) to improve educational and economic outcomes for Philadelphia's youth. PYN offers a variety of programs to help youth thrive in the workplace, school, and the community.
