SVU Investigating Death Of 4-Year-Old Girl

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

A play kitchen set in the front yard of a home on South 56th street in Southwest Philadelphia is a sad reminder to neighbors that a 4-year-old girl who lived on their block is dead.

"It's got me upset, I'm sorry," says Angie Foglio.

Angie Foglio says she saw police at the home early Tuesday.

That's after the child was transported from the home to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where she died.

"You never think that something like that is going to happen on your block, it's upsetting," reflects Foglio.

The death has been reported to the Philadelphia Department of Human Services, and the Special Victims Unit tells FOX 29 that homicide has taken over the investigation from them.

Neighbors say they hate to think of what may have happened to the little girl that caused her death.

"But I hope they find out the truth so that child can rest in peace." Says Foglio.

Investigators say they're waiting for autopsy results to determine the cause of death.

A homicide detective tells FOX 29 that the child's mother and the mother's boyfriend are nowhere to be found and investigators are looking for them. They want to question them about what happened to this four year old girl before she was brought to the hospital.
