Car Crashes Into Dunkin' Donuts, Surveillance Captures It All

PHILADELPHIA -

A terrifying scene at a Dunkin' Donuts in Philadelphia's Overbrook Park section. A car crashes into the shop on busy City Avenue. And it's all caught on camera.

Talk about a drive-through window.

From the surveillance video, you can almost feel the power of the car crashing into the Overbrook Dunkin' Donuts.

The impact is so strong, it shakes the building, rattling the surveillance cameras. Video shows an elderly man apparently gunning the gas and reversing his car right into the City Avenue donut shop's front door.

"It's horrible. What if some other customers were walking in? It could have been a big disaster," says employee Daniel Badwal.

Only a few employees and the driver's friend were inside the store at the time of the wreck. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Employee Soumit Sarkar watched from the counter as the car came right at him, stopping just a few feet away.

"I'm so lucky! God, he saved me," says Sarkar.

After shrugging off the shock, he had to hop through the drive-through window to get outside and pull the driver to safety.

"He was totally lost. Shocked. That's it," says Sarkar. "Wasn't talking at all."

The unwanted remodeling, a bit hard for owner Nick Patel to take.

He's just thankful the driver and his friend inside, both regular customers, were able to walk away from this mess.

"Best thing is nobody is hurt; this is a good thing," he says.

No loss of life. Patel just lost some of his business.

The shop will remain shut down until tomorrow when the city can inspect it after repairs are made.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
