MYFOXNY.COM -

Brooklyn native and entrepreneur Jack Hidary is running as an independent for Mayor of New York City.

Although his name may not be familiar to most New Yorkers, the billionaire creator of job search website Dice.com says he's different from the other candidates.

"I'm the only one in the race that combines entrepreneurial experience; I've created companies and I've created jobs and I've combined that with 15 years of public service. I've been working in education and micro-finance where you give low income people money to help them start a business," said Hidary.

He'd like to expand micro-finance opportunities to more New Yorkers.

"I'm running because when I went around New York City people said 'we want a new choice. 'We don't want career politicians that will take us back to the 70s that will bankrupt this city," said Hidary.

He faces a growing list of candidates including:

Anthony Weiner

Bill de Blasio

Sal Albanese

Christine Quinn

John Liu

Erik Salgado

Bill Thompson

Joe Lhota

George McDonald

John Castimatidis

Adolfo Carrion

A recently exonerated New York man who spent nearly 25 years behind bars for a killing that happened while he was at Disney World is getting help from dozens of well-wishers contributing to an online fund for him. About 70 people gave a total of more than $3,400 to the campaign for Jonathan Fleming by Wednesday. Fleming was released last week after a judge dismissed the 1989 case, with Brooklyn prosecutors' assent.

The future is here when it comes to vehicles. The auto industry has packed nearly 1,000 automobiles into the Jacob Javits Center on Manhattan's West Side for the 2014 NY Auto Show.   Among the 'must-sees' is a hydrogen-powered vehicle and a prototype with cameras that allow you to see the ground underneath as you drive over it.
