Bellwood woman is county's fourth heat-related death of season

BELLWOOD, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A west suburban Bellwood woman's death Saturday was heat-related, an autopsy Sunday found.

Joan Kaluzny, 83, died at her home in the 4600 block of St. Charles Road at 8:25 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

An autopsy Sunday found Kaluzny died of cardiovascular disease and diabetes, and heat stress was a contributing factor, according to the medical examiner's office.

The temperature reached a high of 86 degrees Saturday in Aurora, according to the National Weather Service.

Kaluzny's death is the fourth heat-related death of the season in Cook County.

Hazel Perisee, 52, died at her South Side home Friday afternoon and an autopsy found heat stress was a contributing factor.

Anne Spears, 71, died Thursday at her Washington Heights home and an autopsy found heat stress was a contributing factor.

Ronald Guyton, 36, died June 25 after falling ill at work. An autopsy found he died of heat stroke, and obesity was a contributing factor.
