Red Line trains running again after male found dead on tracks

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

CTA Red Line trains headed toward Ashland/63rd are running normally again after a male was found dead on the tracks near the Grand station Sunday night.

A male was found unresponsive on the tracks about 100 feet north of the end of the platform at the Grand station at 6:30 p.m., police and CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.

The male's injuries were consistent with being hit by a train, Hosinski said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office had not been notified of the death as of 8 p.m.

Southbound trains were diverted to elevated stations for almost three hours Sunday, but normal service was restored by 9:20 p.m., according to the CTA.

Area Central detectives are conducting a death investigation.
