Scottsdale Police have a new traffic tool to increase safety in school zones. Two portable photo-enforcement towers will be rotated among Scottsdale's 31 schools.
After about a month of testing, drivers will start incurring tickets Monday. The towers are about the size of a phone booth, making them easy to fit where photo-enforcement vans can't fit. Most photo-enforcement cameras, both stationary and mobile, flash when drivers go 11 mph over the posted speed limit. The school towers are set to go off at 6 mph over the posted speed limit in school zones.
