CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The boy rescued after being buried under an Indiana sand dune is starting to improve.

University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital officials said Nathan Woessner, 6, is in good condition Monday.

He has been taken off a ventilator and is breathing on his own. Doctor said he returned to a regular diet on Monday, and can leave his room to visit the playroom.

Eleven days ago, Woessner fell into a hole at Indiana Dunes. He was buried under 11 feet of sand for three hours before rescuers could reach him.

Doctors said it is a miracle Woessner survived.
