How much will your pet cost you this year?

There's no doubt about it-America is a nation of pet lovers. Today, about half of the nation's households include a dog or a cat.

In fact, 15% of Americans will buy a costume for their pet - to the tune of $370M. More shocking is the toll animals take on our electronics budget.

It's a fact: American pets have bitten, chewed, licked, and otherwise damage over 8 million of our electronic devices, which amounts to over $3 billion in repair and replacement costs.

In fact, one out of every three devices damaged by a pet is a smartphone, which could mean up to $800 in replacement costs each time your animal runs amok.

According to new research, if you drive with your pet in your lap, you're over twice as likely to damage your device. Letting a pet sleep in the bed with you triples the chances of a damaged device.

Overweight pets are far more prone to damage devices than their physically fit peers. Meanwhile, giving your pet too much independence can also increase your risk factor.

In fact, two-thirds of pet-related accidents involving a device happened while the pet was unsupervised.

Pet expert Arden Moore is available for live interviews to discuss the prevalence of device damage caused by our most beloved members of the family.

She will discuss the role pet behavior plays in how electronic devices are damaged, plus will provide steps pet owners can take to avoid these mishaps.
