DETROIT (WJBK) -

Detroit Police Inspector Don Johnson, a 19-year veteran and commanding officer of the Homeland Security division, has been dismissed for conduct unbecoming an officer.

Johnson was suspended with pay last October pending the results of an Internal Affairs investigation. He apparently texted a female subordinate an inappropriate picture using a department-issued cell phone.

"It's egregious conduct," said Detroit Police Chief James Craig. "One of the things that I look at moving forward is that certainly our executive team is held to a very high standard. We set the tone for the organization, and this is a new day. Moving forward ... certainly the message has to be clear that we're accountable. We're accountable to the people. We're accountable to the men and women who wear that uniform, and they expect our leaders to be above reproach."

In addition to Johnson, two other high ranking members of the department have recently lost their positions, and he promises they won't be the last.
