Help Pontiac students by donating school supplies

School will be back in session soon and the Pontiac Regional Chamber would like to make sure that children have the right supplies.

Partnering with the Oakland County Sherriff Department- Pontiac Substation and several area businesses, the Chamber invites residents to donate school supplies July 26 - August 4.

Affinity Group Credit Union has donated 300 sports packs that will be filled with the donated supplies. The Oakland Press is the event media partner and the following locations have offered to make donations and serve as drop off points:

Writing utensils, erasers, pocket folders, rulers, crayons, 3 ring binders, pencil sharpeners (handheld), compositions notebooks, ruled filler paper, scissors, glue, kleenex and anti-bacterial wipes.

A "Stuffing Party" will take place on Monday, August 5, 11:00 at the Pontiac Regional Chamber Office.

From 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., families will be entertained by positive rap group QTMC (sponsored by Hubert Distributors), enjoy food and refreshments, participate in crafts and games, explore police and fire safety vehicles, watch Canine and Motorcycle Unit demonstrations.

On Tuesday, August 6, the sports packs full of supplies will be given out to 300 children (more if donations are plentiful). Students in grades K-8 are welcome to come to a fun event at the Pontiac Substation to receive the supplies. Donations will be given to the children on a first come first served basis.
