Ex-Bulger partner wraps up testimony on 6th day

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (AP) — James "Whitey" Bulger's former partner in crime has finished testifying after six days on the witness stand in Bulger's racketeering trial.

Stephen "The Rifleman" Flemmi's cross-examination by Bulger's lawyer ended Thursday. Flemmi acknowledged that the government had allowed him to keep some properties under a 2003 plea agreement that also spared him death penalty prosecutions for murders in Oklahoma and Florida.

On Wednesday, Flemmi admitted he had lied under oath in years past but insisted he's telling the truth now.

Under questioning from prosecutors, Flemmi said he was with Bulger almost every day for 20 years, and the two committed numerous crimes together, including murders.

Bulger is accused of participating in 19 killings.

He was the reputed leader of Boston's Irish mob and one of the country's most wanted fugitives before his capture in California in 2011.
