Deaf dancer feels the beat, feels joy moving her feet

ATLANTA -

Dust off your dancing shoes! This weekend, people from coast to coast will be celebrating National Dance Day. The grassroots campaign was launched three years ago by FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance" executive producer Nigel Lithgoe.

Good Day Atlanta's Karen Graham discovered the impact the event had on one local woman and how she's making a difference. Tineshia Hawkins says she's been dancing ever since she was 4 years old – despite being hearing impaired.

And, she gives true meaning to the common phrase "feeling the beat."

If the music is groovin', then the bodies are movin' at Dance 411 Studios in Atlanta. But, this dancer stands out from the rest is she doesn't actually hear the music – well, not exactly.
