Cliques in the workplace

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Ever feel alone with no friends in your own office?

A recent survey by Harris Interactive says 43% of the 3,000 workers polled say they are concerned their offices have become to "clique-y."

"It's not much different than high school," said Ari Zoldan, CEO of Quantum. "If people haven't really evolved since high school, it's going to pour into the workplace... To some extent like a day camp."

Zoldan said that as the CEO he is the one responsible for keeping the mayhem at a minimum. But, he does admit cliques form all the time and he seems to understand why.

"It's about trying to find yourself in an organization, and attaching yourself to a safe environment, and if that means attaching yourself to a group internally then so be it," he said.

Some don't want to be attached to anyone, including me. Others are willing to talk to anyone or do just about anything to fit in.

The survey says workers will smoke, eat foods, watch certain shows and even make fun of people all to try to fit in. Jocks and geeks are most likely to be part of work cliques.
