BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - A British citizen living in Westport has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for defrauding a former rock star in a case that involved plans to sell dirt from the old Yankee Stadium in New York.

The Connecticut Post reports 53-year-old Mark Hayward also was ordered Thursday to make restitution to Bob Runk, a founding member of the 1960s rock band Uranus and the Five Moons.

Prosecutors say Hayward defrauded Runk out of $80,000, by convincing him to invest in a plan to package soil from the stadium into key chains and lying about having money in a British bank to fund the project.

Hayward said he had not defrauded anybody, and made a real product.

Superior Court Judge John Blawie called Hayward a "classic white collar criminal."
