Police warn of lakeside robberies in Kenwood

Police are warning Kenwood residents of an increase in robberies along the lakefront this month.

The males approach their victims along the lakefront and either display a weapon and take their belongings or beat them and steal their property, according to a release from Area Central detectives.

The robberies happened about 10:25 p.m. July 5 in the 4300 block of South Lake Shore Dr, about 5:10 a.m. July 17 in the 4700 block of South Lake Shore Drive and about 9:10 p.m. July 19 in the 4300 block of South Lake Shore Drive, police said.

The attackers are described as two to 13 black males between 16 and 21 years old, police said. They are about 5-foot-7 to 6-feet tall.
