Darby Township Officer Accused Of Kidnapping

Posted: Updated:

Christopher Scott was a part time police officer for Darby Township. He's been fired after being accused by the Delaware County District Attorney of taking two women out of the Township while on duty and holding them against their will because he wanted something.

Officer Christopher Howard Scott didn't say a word as he was escorted from the Delaware County courthouse.

He is accused of kidnapping, unlawful restraint, criminal coercion, false imprisonment, stalking, committing crimes with a firearm and harassment.

The Darby Township police officer is a one year veteran of the force. According to the Delaware County DA's office, the whole incident started early Saturday morning when he pulled over a 23-year-old woman for allegedly running a stop sign. The DA says Officer Scott told the young woman to follow him to a park out of his jurisdiction.

"She got out of her vehicle and he performed three field sobriety tests. After the test, he told her to get back inside of the car. Once inside the car, he asked her, 'What can you do for me so I can let you go.'" describes DA Jack Whelan.

That's when Delaware County authorities say the police officer handcuffed the woman and drove around for three hours.

"She told him no. She got the insinuation. She said after repeated requests that 'if you're asking me for sex, I am not going to participate,'" describes DA Whelan.

According to Delaware County authorities, Scott eventually left the woman go, but he followed her home. She never reported the incident, but did tell her boyfriend.

"So he decides to walk by North Avenue Park. And lo and behold, what's does he see, but victim number two," says DA Whelan.

The very next night, around 2 a.m., authorities say that victim number one's boyfriend confronted Officer Scott and called 911.

"The boyfriend of victim number one happens to be in the area walking home," says DA Whelan.

According to police, there's video of Officer Scott's patrol car outside of Darby Township that night. As for what was said in the patrol car,

"The elements have to be proven and that's gonna take the testimony of these two women," says Officer Scott's lawyer, John List.

According to his lawyer, Officer Scott's wife, a doctor in NY, paid his bail. As he walked freely to his car, he denied to comment.

The police department says they're concerned about public trust in light of this alleged incident and hope that if there are any other victims they'll come forward. As for Officer Scott, his next court appearance is in August.
