DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -
Inspiring young women to pursue careers in technology is the goal of a special camp being held in Detroit.
Girls grades fourth through seventh will spend the next five days building robots, designing websites, creating video games and also making apps. Several corporations including GM and Compuware sent representatives to the camp to discuss with the girls how technology such as apps are used in the business world.
The camp, now in its 10th year, is presented by the Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation.
The University of Detroit Mercy is hosting the annual Summer Technology Camp for 50 girls ages 9 to 13 with the hopes of one day making Michigan the number one state for women in technology.
