The Philadelphia Zoo celebrated the sixth birthday of its male Red River Hog, named Hamilton.
Since 2012, the zoo has had three Red River Hogs. Hamilton is the youngest of the three.
Red River Hogs are the smallest wild pig species in Africa. They're known for the bright red coats and distinctive white markings across the coats. In the wild, they eat grass, berries, insects and carrion. At the zoo, they enjoy special biscuits that are made of root vegetables and hay.
After a TRACE of April snow in Philadelphia Wednesday morning, the return of winter is making an unwanted return for most.
Freeze warnings posted for Wednesday night into Thursday AM. Protect sensitive plants!
Expect a slow warm up over the next couple of days.
