Apartment catches fire during bed bug treatment

PHOENIX -

Firefighters were called to an apartment complex being treated for bed bugs Thursday.

Crews arrived at the complex near Interstate 17 and Indian School Road to find flames shooting out apartment's front door.

Firefighters believe the fire was sparked by the equipment being used to decontaminate the apartment.

"Looked like we had some work going on in the house for actually for a bed bug deal, so we had some equipment out front that looked like was where it may have started, so we had that going and then some fire active inside the apartment room," said David Lowinger of the Phoenix Fire Department.

Crews were able to put out the fire before it spread to any other units.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
