With the news that Percy Harvin will be shelved until at least week 13, fantasy owners are asking themselves a rather important question.
Is Harvin even worth drafting?
Like other questions when it comes to fantasy football, the answer is no but maybe.
Roster spots are valuable real estate and if your league only drafts 15 or 16 players then the answer is probably no. If you draft 17 or 18, then you might be able to stow Harvin on your roster until he returns. There is no guarantee that Harvin will even produce once he returns to your fantasy lineup and if you are already into your playoffs at that time, are you going to risk Harvin torpedoing your championship run?
There is another scenario in play here. If you own Harvin in a keeper situation, do you hang on to him?
Again the answer is dependent on your league rules. If you have an injured reserve then maybe putting him there makes some sense, but it you are forced to forfeit a draft pick or give up some of your cap space to keep a player who won't help you win this year, does keeping him outweigh the price?
Most leagues will watch Harvin slide, and if he does, the option of picking him up via waivers will be there as news of his return nears.
