NOVI, Mich. (WJBK) -

A former suburban Detroit elementary school principal who authorities say was found drunk on school property has been sentenced to 18 months of probation.

Kim Warren was also sentenced Tuesday to community service, mandatory AA meetings and a small fine.

Warren was arrested April 8 after returning to Deerfield Elementary School in Novi from her lunch hour. Police say Warren's blood alcohol level was .21. She did not enter the school while drunk and did not have any contact with children.

She resigned and pleaded no contest to a drunken driving charge in the case. A no contest plea isn't an admission of guilt, but is treated as such for sentencing purposes. In exchange, a charge of possessing an open alcohol container in a vehicle was dropped.

During her sentencing, Warren apologized to her former employer.
