NYC man charged in shooting at Hudson Valley home

Posted: Updated:

PINE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they've charged a New York City man with attempted murder after he fired several gunshots at a person at a Hudson Valley home last week.

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to a home in Pine Plains late on the night of Aug. 6 after several bullets hit the house but didn't strike the person they were fired at.

The gunman fled the scene but a description of the suspect and his car was given to police. Deputies say that enabled them to identify 34-year-old Everet Burnham of Brooklyn as the suspect.

Officials say he was arrested last Friday by a police fugitive task force.

Burnham was charged with attempted murder. He's free after posting bail. It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer.
